Schedule K-1, for a founder abroad.
Each member of a multi-member LLC gets a Schedule K-1 showing their share of the company's income, deductions and credits for the year, as the partnership reports them on Form 1065. Shares follow the operating agreement, which usually means ownership percentages.
A foreign member of a partnership with no US trade or business generally has nothing to report to the IRS from it. Your own country's return is another matter: the K-1 is usually the document your accountant at home asks for to show your share.

- When do I get my Schedule K-1?
- With the partnership's Form 1065, due 15 March for a calendar year, or later if the return is extended.
- Do I file my K-1 with the IRS as a non-resident?
- Only if the partnership has US business income, which you'd then report on Form 1040-NR. Otherwise it's a record for your home country's return.
- Does a single-member LLC issue a K-1?
- No. It's a disregarded entity, so there's no partnership return and no K-1.
