Shopify Payments is open in 41 countries. Everywhere else, every order pays Shopify's third-party fee.
Shopify Payments isn't open to businesses in India, so every order goes through another provider and pays Shopify's 2% on Basic as well. At your volume that route costs about $15,696.00 a year, against $8,460.00 through US Shopify Payments.
What US Shopify Payments asks of a company
- The physical US address where the business mainly operates, with a document from the last six months showing it.
- The company's EIN letter: the SS-4 confirmation, notice CP575 or letter 147C.
- A full US checking account in dollars that takes ACH transfers. Not savings, not wire-only.
- For the person behind the account, an SSN or ITIN, or a passport photo if they live outside the US.
A registered agent's address isn't where the business operates. Without a real US operating address, plan on another provider.

Selling on Shopify from outside the US.
Shopify Payments is open to businesses in 41 countries. Of the 100 countries we cover, 65 aren't among them.
Where it's open, you pay your own country's Shopify Payments rates. Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria and Canada are among the 35 of ours. A US customer's card is international there, and paying out in another currency costs 2%.
Where it isn't, every order goes through another provider, which charges its own rate, and Shopify adds its transaction fee on top: 2% on Basic. That covers India, Pakistan, Nigeria, Bangladesh and Brazil.
A US company helps only with a US address. US Shopify Payments asks where the business actually operates. A registered agent's address or a mail service isn't that.

On Basic with Shopify Payments, 2.9% + 30¢ on an online card payment: $3.20 on a $100 order. Grow charges 2.7% + 30¢ and Advanced 2.5% + 30¢. Premium cards, cards from abroad and payments in another currency cost more.
It's the fee Shopify adds when an order is paid through a provider other than Shopify Payments: 2% on Basic, 1% on Grow and 0.6% on Advanced. The provider charges its own fee as well, so on Basic a PayPal-priced order costs $5.98 per $100.
Basic is $39 a month, or $29 billed yearly. Grow is $105 or $79, and Advanced $399 or $299. Plus starts at $2,300 a month.
Yes. The card rate applies to everything the customer pays, shipping and tax included, even though the tax isn't yours to keep.
Shopify charges more for cards it classes as premium, such as many rewards and business cards: 3.5% + 30¢ on Basic instead of 2.9% + 30¢. The share of your orders paid that way decides how much it adds.
It's open in 41 countries, including the US, the UK, Canada, Australia and most of the EU. It isn't open in India, Pakistan, Nigeria, Brazil and Malaysia, among others, where every order goes through another provider and pays Shopify's transaction fee.
Only with a real US operating address. Shopify asks for the physical US address where the business mainly operates, with a document from the last six months. A registered agent's address isn't that. The owner can verify with a passport instead of an SSN.
When your card sales pass about $33,000 a month on monthly billing, or $25,000 on yearly. Below that, Grow's lower rate doesn't cover its higher fee.
